The Farmington City Hall green roof system restores lost habitat and helps reduce the buildings’ energy costs.
The City of Farmington Hills was honored with a “Keep Michigan Beautiful Award” for the City Hall Revitalization Project, which features a LiveRoof® hybrid green roof system and a photovoltaic panel array.
The LEED Gold building is not only beautiful but functional as well. The pv/green roof combination has resulted in significant energy savings for the city.
In a comparison of June/July 2011 energy data to Jun/July 2007 data from the old building, statistics show:
- A more than 30% reduction in energy use
- A 70% reduction in total energy costs
- A 79% reduction in energy costs per square foot
