Hortech is a wholesale production/propagation nursery started in 1983. We grow a broad and interesting line of ground covers, ornamental grasses, climbing vines, and ferns. LiveRoof specializes in a fully vegetated modular green roof system. LiveWall specializes in a proven vertical green wall system that works very well. We pride ourselves on providing clients with premium, earth-friendly, quality products with steadfast service with emphasis on superior customer service. We offer both seasonal and non-seasonal positions of varying responsibilities and strive to hire diligent, highly motivated individuals.

Accounting

With multiple businesses, our accounting department is busy, to say the least. They’re in charge of our accounts payable, accounts receivable, cost accounting, and overall budget. A strategic approach to reading and interpreting numbers, reports, and results are keys to success. We’re ethical, direct, and responsible individuals when it comes to our accounting principles.

Administrative Office

Most positions have a balance of indoor and outdoor work, but our office positions spend the majority of time indoors working on daily tasks and areas of expertise. But, we always encourage teammates to get out on the nursery to continually improve their knowledge of products, people, and customers.

Career opportunities exist in marketing, inventory, accounting, customer service, and website administration.

Designers/Estimators

Our designers and estimators support our sales staff with their product expertise, excellent customer service, and quick project management. They must have an eye for detail, and they must catch flaws or potential issues before they happen. They primarily work with our green roof and green wall products.

There are currently no open Designer/Estimator positions, but we are happy to accept your resume or application in consideration for future openings.

Growers (Horticulture)

In the earlier years, our industry referred to these positions as night watchmen (and night watchwomen). These terms were used to describe grower positions because the only way to guarantee plant quality was through keeping guard on the plant’s needs overnight. Thankfully plant care technology has advanced and we now have automatic irrigation, sensors, and more.

Our growers are dedicated horticulture professionals who love plants. Their joy comes from cultivating a quality plant, plus it’s hard not to love all the colors and textures of plants! They supervise a small team of cultural teammates and spend nearly 90% of their time on the nursery caring for our plants.

Human Resources

People are at the center of our HR department. Our most important assets are our employees, customers, and community. We work hard to connect with all of them to strengthen our company’s ability to deliver products and services to our customers and industry. Daily we’re building an enjoyable workplace through training teammates, reviewing processes, and executing precise tasks that include payroll, time and attendance, safety initiatives, and training.

Information Technology (IT)

Our computer hardware and software, and programming serve as a backbone to our operation. It’s our smallest department, with an IT Manager and Database Technician running it all.

Maintenance

Our Maintenance department stays active at all times, as mechanically inclined individuals work in teams and individually to solve some of the most challenging problems and exciting innovations.

Career opportunities include management, and preventative maintenance; we also hire one or two summer-seasonal positions as teammates to help out.

Management

Our Managers have a high degree of responsibility and accountability. They need to have a winning attitude, positive influence, flawless execution, a leadership mentality, and a strategic approach to their work. You also can’t be afraid to get your hands dirty and pitch in when and wherever you’re needed.

Career opportunities include: shipping/logistics, horticulture, production, business development, human resources, information technology, accounting, facility/maintenance, general management, and sales.

Production, Cultural & Shipping

We have many opportunities and lots of variety in our work. Starting as a teammate in any given department is often where people find their passion for plants, people, and work.

Career opportunities include cultural, production, shipping, and grower teammates (field work). Additionally, opportunities exist in material handling – driving fork trucks and tractors.

Sales

Our sales teams focus on fulfilling customer needs. We have sales departments for each product line/company (Hortech, LiveRoof, and LiveWall). If you love plants, enjoy people, and you’re uncommonly service minded then you might consider a career in sales.

Shipping & Logistics

Our shipping and logistics company works at a fast-pace. They focus on delivering product on time and with steadfast service. You need to be quick, accurate, and cost efficient when you work in our shipping department. And, like sales, you have to be uncommonly service minded.

Career opportunities include: managers, truck drivers, supervisors (team leaders), and teammates.

Supervisors

Our shipping and production departments have supervisors, known as Team Leaders. Our Growers act as supervisors for our Cultural teams. In addition to working in the green houses and in the field, our team leaders demonstrate leadership through training, encouraging, and leading teammates to complete daily tasks related to plant care, propagation, and logistics.

Multiple summertime positions are perfect fits for students or other people seeking a summer-seasonal position.
