The Perfect Union of Green Technologies
LiveRoof’s SolaGreen®, is a fully integrated bio-solar solution that combines photovoltaic (PV) solar energy generation with the industry’s top-tier green roof system—for unparalleled benefits.
Harness the power of the sun and nature to reduce energy costs, enhance property value, manage stormwater, and contribute to a sustainable future.
The Power of Solar Energy
Solar energy is a limitless clean power source that reduces carbon footprints and utility costs while contributing to a sustainable future with the following benefits:
Cost Reduction: Lowers energy bills by utilizing renewable energy.
Energy Management: Surplus energy can be stored or fed back into the grid.
Job Creation: Contributes to the creation of local jobs.
Inexhaustible Resource: Solar energy is limitless, affordable and can be independent of the power grid.
Sustainability: Solar energy contributes to a sustainable energy future.
Low Maintenance: Minimal upkeep required for solar and green roof systems.
Environmental Impact: Provides clean, carbon-neutral energy with zero emissions.
Incentivized: Supported by various governmental and private programs (grants, tax credits, LEED certification).
Grid Resilience: Enhances the stability and resilience of the electric grid.
Government & Financial Incentives
Note: Confirm all current incentives with your local tax professional.
- Solar Investment Tax Credit: The SolaGreen system, with LiveRoof as the essential ballast component, may qualify for the U.S. Solar Investment Tax Credit (currently 30% as of July 2024).
- Domestic Content Tax Credit: An additional 10% credit is available for using domestically sourced materials. Note: not for residential applications (as of Oct. 2024).
- Accelerated Depreciation: Allows rapid depreciation of solar systems.
- Solar & Green Roof Incentives: Many state and municipal programs offer further incentives for both solar and green roofs.
- Solar & Green Roof Grants: Governmental and private grants are widely available.
The LiveRoof Advantage
Green roofs offer environmental benefits, lower utility costs, and improve human wellness by combining nature and architecture.
Municipal &
Societal Benefits
Lower Infrastructure Costs: Reduces the need for storm water management systems.
Water Resource Protection: Reduces contamination of lakes and streams by absorbing stormwater.
Noise Reduction: Provides sound insulation for buildings.
Job Creation: Supports the creation of green jobs.
Human Wellness
Biophilic Benefits: Enhances physical and mental health by providing views and access to green spaces, reducing stress, improving focus, and fostering social interactions.
Environmental Impact
Carbon Sequestration: Captures and stores carbon dioxide.
Urban Heat Island Mitigation: Lowers city temperatures by cooling rooftop spaces.
Air Quality Improvement: Filters and purifies the air.
Water Management: Cools and filters rainwater, reducing runoff.
Biodiversity: Creates habitat for birds and pollinators.
Optimized Solar Efficiency:
Keeps ambient temperatures
low, improving solar panel
output by 5-15% compared to traditional applications.
SolaGreen Financial Benefits
Reduced Utility Bills
• Low-cost electric generation from on-site photovoltaics.
• 25% reduction in cooling and heating needs for floors below the green roof, largely due to evaporative cooling and insulation.
Increased Solar Panel Output: Heat mitigation from green roofs improves solar efficiency by 5-15%.
Extended Roof Life: A standard 20-year roof could last 60+ years due to protection from environmental exposure (sun, wind, cold).
Increased Property Value: Green roofs increase building density allowances, making developments more economically viable, and enhancing property resale or rental values. The ability to generate free energy on site makes the property even more valuable.
No Rooftop Penetrations
The entire system is held in place (ballasted) by the weight of the LiveRoof system (vegetated modules and RoofStone pavers). This means no rooftop penetrations!

Synergies of Solar + LiveRoof
- Photovoltaic systems generate clean, sustainable
energy from the sun. - LiveRoof vegetation cools the air around the solar
panels for better solar output (combating efficiency
decline that occurs at high temperatures). - LiveRoof protects the roof from fire, UV, wind, rain, hail,
heat and cold. Extends roof life 200–300% - LiveRoof absorbs stormwater and does great things for
the environment and society. - SolaGreen is the ultimate bio-solar solution for long
lasting value, power optimization, plant health, beauty
and happy owners
